The Langkawi Writers’ Festival (LWF) returns for its fourth edition from October 24–26, 2025, continuing its mission to unite writers, poets, artists, and readers from across Malaysia and around the world. Launched in 2022, this annual celebration of literature has grown into a vital platform for nurturing new voices, exchanging ideas, and elevating Langkawi as a literary and cultural destination.

Held amidst the breathtaking scenery of Langkawi Island—where serene beaches and historic landmarks inspire creativity—the festival is a multi-day immersion in storytelling, dialogue, and artistic reflection. Participants engage in workshops, panel discussions, poetry readings, and curated conversations that bridge local narratives with global literary trends.

The 2025 festival explores the theme “Garam, Rempah, Citra”—Salt, Spice, and Imagery—a metaphorical journey into the richness of Malaysian storytelling. Drawing on maritime heritage, culinary traditions, and cultural identity, this theme sparks vibrant discussions around how these elements shape the soul of literature and the arts. From sea tales and ancestral recipes to evocative symbolism and visual storytelling, the festival encourages deeper appreciation for narratives rooted in place, memory, and sensory experience.
