Royal Langkawi International Regatta

6 - 11 January 2020

Adrenaline is set to soar as the 18th Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) 2020 be held at Royal Langkawi Yatch Club and sailing enthusiasts prepare to sail their boats and endure challenging wind conditions in Langkawi between 6 and 11 January, 2020.

KFC Langkawi International Regatta

15 - 19 January 2020

Aimed to nurture new and young talents in sailing. This year’s event will be held from 15th – 19th January. This young sailors were exposed to a lot of valuable experiences as they have sailed in numerous sailing conditions in Langkawi. The valuable experience and important lesson will help them excel at the international youth competition.

Langkawi Chinese New Year Celebration

7 February 2020

Chinese New Year (CNY), the spring festival, is the most important celebration for the Chinese community in Malaysia. CNY is actually celebrated for 15 consecutive days, and final day Chap Goh Mei is also a big event.

Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark Rugby

14 - 15 February 2020

Rugby 10s offer players of diverse skills, capabilities and different fitness levels the opportunity to continue to enjoy the game they love so much. The more traditional scrums and lineouts are part of the game whilst the fact that there is a bit more space on the field, however not too much as to expose the slower forwards on the defensive lines, makes this a popular game for all levels of players, 640 local and international players will compete in two categories.

Le Tour De Langkawi

14 - 15 February 2020

It’s back to 10 stages as this year’s Le Tour De Langkawi, Asia’s premier stage race, returns with the grueling climb up to Cameron Highlands serving as the main highlight in the 2 HC (Hors Category) race scheduled to commence on 14th – 15th February.

Langkawi Ultra

29 February - 1 March 2020

Langkawi Ultra is an ultra – marathon race event. The 100km round – island route offers runners the opportunity to sightsee the beautiful sceneries of Langkawi Island by foot. Runners will pass by local countryside villages, paddy fields, beaches and even a crocodile farm! This is a unique way for ultra – marathoners to challenge your ultra – distance endurance while exploring the island. Langkawi Ultra also offers 50km, 21km, 10km, and 5km categories and even Ultra Kids categories of 2km and 650m.

FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour
12 - 15 March 2020

Malaysia will be hosting its third FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour by the beach. With 32 top male and female beach volleyball players from over 16 countries competing for the country’s first title. Langkawi will be the only ASEAN nation to host the tournament and its sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de Volleyball.

2nd Langkawi International Dragon Boat Regatta
14 - 15 March 2020

The 2nd International Dragon Boat Regatta will be held in Langkawi, as one of the marine sports events. Langkawi will host this epic regatta tournament for international and local teams and is expected to attract spectators from inside and outside of Langkawi.

2nd Edition Langkawi Art Biennale
18 - 24 March 2020

Langkawi Art Biennale will be held on 18th – 24th March 2020 at Langkawi, Malaysia. This event will run for 8 days, and is organized by Langkawi Art Biennale, the largest art & painting trade show.

Langkawi Satun LUGG International Run
28 - 30 March 2020

Come celebrate geodiversity through this community – led international running event, with mountainous surfaced roads and significant elevation gain at Mount Raya, to mark the 13th anniversary of Langkawi’s UNESCO Global Geoparkand the 2nd anniversary of Satun’s UNESCO Global Geopark statuses. Participants from across the region as from the other UNESCO Global Geoparks across the globe must run both neigbouring Geosites of Malaysia and Thailand to be eligible for the unique finisher’s medal.

Tuba Trail Run
18 April 2020

Due to an overwhelming respond from the local and international participants, The Tuba Trail Run is back for more with a new set of difficult challenging courses and trails. Set in a less explored wilderness of Tuba and Dayang Bunting Island, contestants are to pass through some of Langkawi natural wonders and amazing landscape while challenging their strength and stamina. The 2020 edition includes three categories namely, 4 kilometers, 15 kilometers and 30 kilometers routes.

Jelajah Ramadhan 1441H
27 April, 4 & 11 May 2020

Jelajah Ramadhan is a LADA collaboration program with its subsidiary and Langkawi FM during the month of Ramadhan. The program is a conceptual series of outreach and engagement with the selected qariah while carrying out corporate social responsibility.

Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark International Touch Rugby Championship
13 - 14 June 2020

Touch developed from rugby league and now exists as a sport in its own right. A rapidly growing game and an attractive sport to rugby coaches and players because of the core skills it develops and the high levels of fitness, speed, dynamism and agility it encourages. 576 local and international players will compete in three categories.

14 - 16 August 2020

The Langkawi Enduro Challenge is the 2nd round leg of the Mountain biker Enduro Championship (MEC). The 1st round was Bukit 300 Enduro Challenge, held at Teluk Batik, Perak, and the final round will be The Lembah Bujang Enduro Challenge, to be held in Lembah Bujang, Kedah.

Promoting Langkawi to key overseas market especially to sport enthuasiasts. Road cycling events provide an unforgettable and spectacular platform that appeals to all layers of society.

8th World Carrom Championship
16 - 20 September 2020

Langkawi Malaysia was awarded to be the host of the 8th World Carrom Championship, 2020 by The International Carrom Federation. Previously it was held in Cannes, France (2008), Mumbai India (2012), in Birmingham, England (2016). At least 22 countries will be participating in this 8th edition of the prestigious world championship.

Runkawi
September 2020

Runkawi offer 5km, 10km, & 21km distances on September 2020. The Runkawi Half Marathon Night Run 2020 will be held in Langkawi, as one of the sport events. Langkawi will host this night running events to international and local teams and is expected to attract spectators from inside and outside of Langkawi.

IRONMAN Malaysia, Langkawi
20 October 2020

This event will be the 9th Ironman Malaysia in Langkawi to be organized since 2011. About 1,200 athletes will compete in the enduring of 3.8km swimming, 42km running and 182km cycling. Winners to be crowned a world a true Ironman and qualify among 40 athletes for the Ironman World Championship in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. This is among the toughest event on earth!

Langkawi MTB Challenge
30 - 31 October 2020

The Langkawi Mountain Bike Challenge will be held in Langkawi, as one of the extreme sports event. Langkawi will host this epic mountain bike tournament to international and local teams, and is expected to attract spectators from inside to outside of Langkawi.

Langkawi International Tug of War (LITOW)
3 - 8 November 2020

At least 100 teams/clubs (25 international & 75 national) will participate in this field and indoor tournament. Apart from seniors, this tournament also include youth and woman categories. About 1500 – 1800 athletes and officials will be in Langkawi for this first edition. 

Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta
12 - 21 November 2020

Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is a challenging annual sailing event organised by the Royal Selangor Yatch Club in conjunction with the Royal Ocean Racing Club. It consists of 3 overnight passage races, 260 miles in total, plus three days in harbour racing around the tropical islands of Penang and Langkawi. The regatta attracts a large variety of yachts, from top IRC racers to classic cruisers dating back more than 100 years. With regatta dinners throughout the week and a Rickshaw Race in Penang, there are lots of opportunities to socialise.

Langkawi Deepavali Celebration

Deepavali is celebrated on the Hindu month of Kartik in October/November. It is also called the Festival of Lights. It is a day of festive joy as Malaysians visit their friends of Hindu faith to extend good wishes and to partake in the feasting and jollity.
