The Langkawi International Bamboo Festival (LiBF) 2023
23 November – 26 November
The Langkawi International Bamboo Festival ’23 (LiBF ’23) is set to take place from the 23rd to 26th of November 2023, and it promises to be an exhilarating affair. This spectacular event aims to showcase bamboo as a sustainable industry that can make a positive impact on the environment and communities. As one of the premier tourist destinations in Langkawi Island, this festival has garnered support from the Ministry of Plantations and Commodities, Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, and Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
Notably, the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through its research arm, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP) have also joined in as strategic partners.
This iconic event will witness the launch of an exciting Adopt A Bamboo (AdAB) program, designed to encourage individuals or corporates to contribute positively to the environment by adopting bamboo, which will be planted throughout Malaysia. Our target is to plant 10 million bamboo over the next decade. As a grove of bamboo releases 35% more oxygen compared to an equivalent stand of trees, this program is poised to make a significant impact on reducing the carbon footprint and combating global warming.
The LiBF ‘23 offers a diverse range of programs, including the Bamboo Musical Concert, Bamboo Fun Run, Bamboo Designer Workshop and Chair Competition, Wood and Bio-fibre International Conference Bamboo Pavilion, as well as the Adopt a Bamboo campaign. This festival promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience, and we look forward to seeing you there!
