Aiming to endorse Open Water Swimming (OWS) as a recreational, fitness, sports, and marine conservation awareness activity in Langkawi, this initiative by the Langkawi Swim Festival (LSF) stands out. LSF proudly holds the distinction of being the first swimming event in Malaysia and Southeast Asia officially sanctioned by the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA). By introducing and championing OWS, LSF not only advocates for healthy lifestyle choices but also pioneers international recognition for the region, placing Langkawi on the map as a prime destination for open water swimming enthusiasts and fostering marine conservation consciousness.

The Langkawi Swimming Fest 2025 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Tanjung Rhu Beach, Langkawi, Malaysia . This annual open water swimming event attracts both local and international participants.​

Event Overview

While specific details for the 2025 edition are yet to be released, previous iterations of the festival have featured a variety of race categories, including:​

• 400m Octopus Swim (for children)

• 1.5km Sprint

• 4km and 8km Distance Swims​

These events typically commence with a beach start and follow a loop course around Pulau Gasing. Cut-off times have been set to ensure participant safety, with the 8km swim having a cut-off time of 5 hours and 20 minutes, and the 4km swim at 2 hours and 40 minutes .
